Y axis definition

What is the Y Axis?

The Y axis is the vertical scale used in a graph; thus, it is the line on a graph that runs from the bottom of the graph to its top. It serves as a reference line from which measurements are made on a coordinate plane. The distance from the y axis and x axis describes the location of an item on that plane. Points plotted along the Y axis have a value of zero for all other plotted coordinates.
