What is the Mississippi CPE Reporting Period?

Annually, from July 1 to June 30

What are the Mississippi CPE Requirements?

40 hours of CPE are required for each year.

Excess hours earned up to a maximum of 20 CPE hours may be carried over and applied to the CPE requirement for the immediately following one year compliance period.

No more than 20 hours of CPE credit for personal development courses may be claimed in a CPE compliance year.

You can apply to the Board for CPE credit relating to the preparation of published articles and books.

The credit for service as a lecturer matches the preparation time and is capped at twice the number of actual hours of the lecture; no credit is allowed for repeats.

What is the Mississippi Ethics Requirement?

At least four hours in ethics every three years, with the course material in professional conduct and public accountancy law and regulations, and at least one of these hours for Mississippi Public Accountancy Law and Regulations.

What Areas of Study are Allowed for Mississippi CPAs?

A CPE program must be a formal program of learning which contributes directly to the professional competence of an individual licensee.

Mississippi CPE Reciprocity

CPE reciprocity is allowed when “a licensee’s primary employment is not in Mississippi but is in a state whose CPE requirements are substantially equivalent to Mississippi’s requirements and the individual is a licensee in that state of primary employment and reports those CPE credit hours with a sworn statement to the Board that the CPE requirements for that jurisdiction have been met.”
