Coefficient of determination definition

What is the Coefficient of Determination?

The coefficient of determination states the proportion of a dependent variable that is predictable by using an independent variable. The minimum score is zero, which indicates that the independent variable cannot predict the value of the dependent variable. The maximum score is one, which indicates that the independent variable perfectly predicts the value of the dependent variable. This concept is used in regression analysis, to determine the accuracy of a prediction model.
