Basing point pricing definition

What is Basing Point Pricing?

The basing point is that geographic location from which the standard fee for a delivery is calculated. This fee is then applied to all deliveries made to customers within that area, irrespective of their actual distance from the seller’s location. The standard fee is increased for designated zones further away from the seller’s location. This system is used to simplify the calculation of shipping charges.
