Breeding herds

Breeding herds are both mature and immature animals that are maintained for their progeny. A cost is assigned to raised breeding livestock that is based on a base value from a reputable source. This value is assigned when an animal enters the breeding herd or flock; the value appears in the Breeding Livestock account, which is a non-current asset account. Every time a raised breeding animal moves into a new age category, it is assigned the base value for animals in that category.
