Delegation

Delegation is the transfer of authority and responsibility from a superior to a subordinate. By engaging in delegation, managers can deal with a smaller number of more critical issues, making them more effective. However, because managers are still responsible for any delegated authority, they may be uncomfortable with the concept. Delegation can work well in an environment where management is trying to push decision-making down into the organization, thereby empowering employees to make more non-strategic decisions.
