Code of conduct

A code of conduct contains the rules of behavior that guide the decisions made within a business. This code is intended to set standards for employees, frequently in areas that have caused ethical debates in the past. The topics covered may include:

  • Conflicts of interest

  • Harassment

  • Marketing practices

  • Political gifts

  • Public disclosures

  • Confidential information

  • Compliance with laws

When a code of conduct is rigorously followed by management, it can represent a significant basis upon which to build a highly ethical corporate culture.
