At-will employment

At-will employment is a relationship between an employer and an employee, where the employer can terminate the employment of the employee at any time, for any reason, as can the employee. Under this arrangement, an employee cannot gain legal satisfaction for any losses incurred due to a dismissal from work. The theory behind at-will employment is that either party is free to leave the relationship. The argument against at-will employment is that the bargaining relationship between the parties disproportionately favors the employer.
