Cycle time

Cycle time is the average interval required to complete an entire task. The concept is most commonly used to measure the entire interval from when a customer order is received to when goods or services are delivered to the customer. A process analyst then breaks down the overall cycle time into its value added and non-value added components and works on eliminating the non-value added components. The outcome should be a reduced cycle time, which is considered a competitive advantage.
