Position Description: Cashier

Basic Function: The cashier position is accountable for error-free cash register operations, payment processing, and interactions with customers.

Principal Accountabilities:

  1. Accurately and efficiently operate cash registers
  2. Operate bar code scanning equipment
  3. Ensure that there is sufficient cash in the cash drawer
  4. Maintain correct cash balances at cash registers
  5. Sort, count and wrap coins and currency
  6. Process payments made with cash, checks, credit cards, and debit cards
  7. Process returns and exchanges
  8. Be aware of all promotions and advertisements that affect product prices
  9. Maintain a clean checkout area
  10. Communicate company policies and procedures to customers
  11. Gift wrap customer purchases as requested

Desired Qualifications: General clerical experience. Must be detail oriented, with excellent customer interaction skills. Must be able to stand for extended periods.
