Shelf Registration
Definition: A shelf registration is the registration of a new issuance of securities that can be filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission up to three years in advance of the actual distribution of such securities. It is especially useful for debt offerings, since the issuing entity can wait for interest rates to decline before issuing any securities. See the Shelf Registration article for more information.
