Payback Method
Definition: The payback method is a capital budgeting analysis method that calculates the amount of time it will take to recoup the investment in a capital asset, with no regard for the time value of money. For example, an investment of $10,000 that will generate annual cash flows of $2,000 has a payback period of five years.
