    Author Overview

I really had fun with this book. Instead of just listing a few hundred ratios, I created an example for each one that can be fun to read - after all, how many accounting books use the Blastomatic Bobsled Company, Occam's Razor Philosophy Calculator Company, and the Huff-Puff Shed Company as  examples? Oh, and it's also thorough; I included ratios and formulas for the engineering, human resources, logistics, production, and sales and marketing areas, as well as accounting and finance.

Steve's book is an extremely comprehensive compilation of valuable measurements for gauging and managing any business, including both financial and non-financial parameters and at several different levels. His unique way of explaining the measurement, presenting the formula, giving a fairly comprehensive example, then including cautions on its use is especially valuable. Anyone concerned about maximizing their business and monitoring performance will find this book quite valuable. -- Robert C.
